A Vibrant Community Outreach Program: As Progressive Christians, we believe faith is something we live, not just something we say. That’s why serving our local community is central to who we are.
Financial Support: We set aside a significant portion of our annual budget to support local agencies that serve people in need in Norwalk. We also administer a grant that helps fund special projects that have meaningful community impact. [Read more]
Beyond Financial Support: We actively encourage hands-on service, and many members volunteer with local partners such as the Open Door Shelter, where we regularly prepare meals for guests.

Local Assistance: Throughout the year, we organize clothing, food, and toy drives. Community agencies ensure donations reach those who need them most.
National Assistance: Through programs sponsored by our denomination, we support the Council for American Indian Ministries and other partners working for direct service, advocacy, and community organizing. These efforts address systemic issues such as poverty, immigration, and environmental justice.
International Assistance: We also support global initiatives in disaster relief, refugee assistance, and sustainable development, including health, education, and agricultural projects.
Bringing in the Local Community: Serving our community also means opening our doors. We don’t just reach outward—we invite the community into the life of the church.
Our buildings are active all week long, hosting yoga, Qigong, singing bowl meditation, and a popular chair-dance program. We host a monthly Red Cross blood drive, and community groups use our space for language classes and children’s music programs.
We host well attended special events. During the holidays, a local acting group re-enacts A Christmas Carol, and musicians present The Messiah – the audience is the chorus. Several members have also started groups like a women’s book club.
We translate our faith into real-world love and service. The result is a church where people can make a difference together.
[There is tremendous need here in Norwalk.] What we love about this church is that we don’t look away from that need. We open our doors. We share our resources and we partner with nonprofits that make the real difference for the people who are struggling. C.G.
