John Livingston, Pastor
The United Church of Rowayton has grown and blossomed in a myriad of ways since John Livingston became its Pastor more than 30 years ago. John holds a Bachelor’s degree in music from C.W. Post College and a Masters of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary, New York City. He became a member of the United Church of Christ in 1975, when he and his wife Judi joined The Congregational Church of Manhasset, NY. He began his ordained ministry on Long Island, serving the Garden City Community Church, Garden City, NY, as its Youth Minister. John summarizes his theology in one word: “Love”. John has three children with his wife Judi: Kelly, Samantha, and Michael, and two grandchildren: Luca and Everly.
Marsha Hall, Director of Music
Marsha has been active in church since her early teens, beginning in Michigan and later in Virginia. In 1978, after moving to Connecticut, she was called to the United Church of Rowayton, where she directs the Adult Choir and both the Adult and Youth Handbell Choirs. Marsha has toured as director and accompanist throughout Europe and Russia. She has guest conducted regional festivals in Connecticut and accompanied All State choirs. Marsha’s son Jason, and his wife Blair, are proud parents of Marsha’s grandchildren, Blake and Palmer.
Judi Livingston, Children’s Choir Director
Judi earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Music Education from Long Island University. She taught pre-school in New York for six years, prior to moving to Rowayton with her husband, John, Pastor of the United Church of Rowayton. She teaches piano to area children, sings professionally, and is a member of our church’s Adult Choir. Under her leadership, the Children’s Choir has grown and routinely participates in services. Judi is the mother of three children and grandmother of two.
Val Harden, Director of Christian Education
After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biopsychology at Vassar College, Val earned an Associate Degree in Massage Therapy from the New York College of Health Professionals. She is the Vice President, Business and Development and Senior Physician Recruiter at TeedCo Healthcare Recruiting in Norwalk. She first came to the United Church of Rowayton in 2008 and served on The Board of Christian Education. She became the Director of Christian Education in 2017. Val and Michael have two children, Amber and Charlotte.
Kris Jenkins, Office Manager
Kris received a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations from the School of Public Communication at Boston University. She and her husband, Frank, joined the United Church of Rowayton in 1990. She served on the Board of Household Concerns and the Building Committee, which was responsible for the expansion of the Meeting House. She has served on the Public Relations Committee and has edited the church newsletter since 1992. She is also Co-Chair of the Tag Sale Committee. Kris has been the Office Manager since 2005. She and Frank have three grown children: Walker, Danielle, and Nicole.
Lou Froelich, Business Manager
In 1955, Lou moved from New Jersey to Rowayton, where he worked in and eventually owned Rowayton Hardware. He served in the Rowayton Volunteer Fire Department and was also involved in the Rowayton Civic Association. Lou joined the United Church of Rowayton in 1956 and served as a Deacon. In 2004, he became its Business Manager. He is a member of the Board of Household Concerns. Lou and Lois have two children, Laura and Chris, and four grandchildren, Jack, Madison, Haley and Hannah.
Dileep Chandran, Maintenance Manager
Dileep was born and raised in India. He earned a bachelor's degree from UCONN and is currently working on an MBA in international business at UCONN. He joins us as a member of Premier Property Management, LLC.
