Tree Lighting & Pizza Party – December 7

Our evening begins at 5:00 PM, when families gather on the lawn to sing our favorite Christmas carols.  This traditional event ends with  the lighting of our outdoor Christmas tree.

 

 

 

We will then walk up the driveway to Livingston Hall, where we come together for a light supper of pasta, salad, drinks, hot chocolate, cookies. and candy canes.  You are invited to bring an ornament to help decorate our huge indoor tree.

And as always, there will be a visit from Santa!

Music Concert with the Yale Wiffenpoofs – December 11

WiffenpoofsUnited Church Nursery School is excited to present The Yale Whiffenpoofs for a special Holiday Concert on Thursday, December 11, at 7 PM in the United Church Rowayton sanctuary.

The Whiffenpoofs are the world’s oldest and best-known collegiate a cappella group. Founded in 1909, the “Whiffs” have become one of Yale’s most celebrated traditions, and they perform more than 200 concerts across six continents each year.

We are thrilled to have them back in Rowayton for a holiday concert that will benefit both United Church Nursery School and the Yale Pediatric NNICU.

A Christmas Carol – December 13

Bring your family to celebrate the season and join Shakespeare on the Sound for it’s sixth annual reading of Charles Dickens’ holiday classic, A Christmas Carol.

During the course of one memorable Christmas Eve, the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future help Ebenezer Scrooge discover that it is never too late to be redeemed and change from his miserly ways.

Performed by the talented players of Shakespeare on the Sound and directed by Winsome Brown, this staged reading will take place in the United Church of Rowayton’s Livingston Hall.

A reception with light food and drinks will follow the performance.

The Living Nativity – December 14

Our Living Nativity is a much-loved live-action drama experience for the entire family.  It’s like a living gospel.

Our actors include our Confirmation Class students and children in our Anchors program.  They dress up as angels, shepherds, a donkey, and a camel.  Our Three Wise Men always have a surprise up their sleeves – who said churches can’t have a sense of humor?

Come and sing the favorite carols.  Enjoy the story.  Witness the telling of the birth of Jesus and share the joy .

Messiah Sing – December 17

sheet music for the Halleluhah ChorusFirst performed in Dublin on April 13, 1742, Handel’s Messiah is now a holiday favorite.  Wilton’s Music on the Hill will bring Messiah Sing to the United Church of Rowayton, and the audience is the chorus!

Music-lovers are welcome to come and listen, as well.

Featuring several guest conductors, soloists, and string quartet, this Messiah sing will include Part I of Handel’s oratorio, as well as the famous “Hallelujah” and “Worthy is the Lamb” choruses, the final movements of Parts II and III.  All singers are welcome.
