Rev. Salvatore Sapienza started as our pastor on January 1, 2024. He is a graduate of New York University (NYU) and All Faiths Seminary in New York City. He was a religious brother in the Catholic Church and worked alongside Father Mychal Judge (“The Saint of 9/11”) in establishing St. Francis AIDS Ministry in Manhattan. Prior to coming to Rowayton, Sal served as the Senior Pastor of Douglas United Church of Christ in Saugatuck/Douglas, Michigan. He is the author of Seventy Times Seven, Mychal’s Prayer, and Childish Thinking. Pastor Sal has twice been elected as delgate to the General Synod of the United Church of Christ, and he currently serves on the Committee on Ministry. He and his husband, Gregg, recently celebrated 30 years together.
